Simmons misses scheduled workout on Thursday

Sixers star Ben Simmons served a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team and missed Wednesday’s season-opening win over the Pelicans, and according to a new report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the disgruntled playmaker is “unlikely” to play on Friday against the Nets.

Wojnarowski tweeted that Simmons left the 76ers’ facility without participating in a scheduled workout on Thursday. Simmons has not yet been officially ruled out for Friday’s game, but head coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday he plans to “give Ben a chance to join the team.”

The latest report from Shams Charania is that the Sixers have no plans to move ahead with a Simmons trade – but Simmons is seemingly doing everything he can to force a deal.

The Sixers host the Nets at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday in a nationally televised game on ESPN.
